Outdoor Adventure Club

Files are Word format.

You can join the club by filling in and returning a Membership Application Form. Once a member you will be entitled to a discount on all the centre courses. There is a regular termly newsletter, sent by post to all members, and also available on this website that gives all the details of the courses and trips taking place. All young people taking part in courses or trips must have their parents or carers permission. This is done by filling in a Course Application Form.

Courses
Courses take place after school during the summer and early autumn terms and during school holidays. These sessions and courses are designed for young people who want a chance to have a go at some watersports skills in a friendly atmosphere or who have visited the lake with their school and want to do some more sailing and canoeing, perhaps progressing through some of the tests and awards available. Courses Information.

Sessions
Sessions after school usually take place on a Wednesday evening from 4:30 – 7:30pm.

Sessions are also available on some Sundays and during the school holidays. The morning sessions are 9:30am–12:30pm. The afternoon sessions are 1:30pm–4:30pm. Please check the Latest Newsletters and Course Information for details.

What You Will Need
During the sessions we will have a fifteen-minute break so it is advisable to bring a snack and a drink. Please wear old clothing and bring at least one full change of clothing, including shoes, a towel and soap for showering. Some people bring two sets of clothes so that they get wet or cold they can get changed during the break and continue on warm and comfortable.

Don’t forget also a hat scarf and gloves and extra layers for the winter and a hat and plenty of sunscreen in the summer.
All participants are expected to assist with putting equipment away after use as well as getting it out!

Awards
If you are keen to gain some of the National Schools Sailing Association awards whilst at the centre there are no charges for attempting any of the awards that the centre offers, but there may be a small charge for badges and certificates gained. A small charge is made for British Canoe Union Paddlepower log books and stickers. Please ask your instructor for details.

Members of the club often develop their skills to the level of representing the borough in the London Youth Games, in both paddlesport and sailing. Any club member wishing to be included in a team should speak to an instructor at the lake.
